Why We Started Dimond Automotive
Most people who open an auto repair shop do it because they are good with cars. Don Dimond did it because he wanted to build something better than what he had experienced from the inside.
What came out of that decision was Dimond Automotive, a family-owned independent shop in Valencia, PA built on the principle that a local auto repair shop can offer the same diagnostic capability as a dealer without the overhead, the impersonal service, or the pricing that comes with it, especially for imports and luxury cars.
The Training That Sets Us Apart
Dimond Automotive’s diagnostic capability does not come from aftermarket scan tools and experience alone. It comes from formal training in the same systems and platforms that dealership technicians use.
Don attended A.W. Beattie Career Center and was selected for the Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) program, a competitive manufacturer-sponsored path that places promising young technicians with dealer partners for formal training. Don was sponsored by P&W Foreign Car Service, completed dealer-supported education at Ohio Technical College, and achieved the level of BMW Diagnostic Technician.
His career continued at MINI of Pittsburgh for three years, followed by a decade at Wright Automotive where he specialized in Saab, Isuzu, and Lotus vehicles. Through Lotus USA training in Atlanta, he advanced his technical expertise further into exotic and specialty platforms that most mechanics never encounter.
For the following eleven years, Don served at George Riggin’s Specialty Automotive, working across the full range of European, classic, exotic, and specialty vehicles. That chapter brought together everything that came before it.
Dimond Automotive is the natural next step from that foundation. Today, Don brings that entire body of experience to every vehicle that comes through the door, along with an unwavering commitment to honesty and doing the job right the first time.
Cindy's Role
Don is only half of the Dimond team. Cindy’s father owned Vince’s Automotive in Perrysville, PA, a shop now proudly run by her brother. That family legacy shaped how she thinks about customers, about trust, and about what a repair shop owes the people who rely on it.
Cindy’s formal education began at A.W. Beattie Career Center, where she studied automotive technology in high school and developed a passion for hands-on learning. She went on to build a seventeen-year career as a radiology technologist, where precision, compassion, and clear communication were not optional qualities.
That combination of automotive roots, medical-inspired professionalism, and genuine care for people is exactly what Dimond Automotive’s customers experience when they interact with her. She keeps the shop organized, the customer experience honest, and the standards high.
Our Background in Numbers
Over 20 years of combined training and hands-on experience. BMW Diagnostic Technician certification. Manufacturer training through AYES, Ohio Technical College, and Lotus USA. Platform experience spanning European, classic, exotic, domestic, and specialty vehicles across multiple dealership and specialty shop environments.
